Changing the Culture
NHC engaged SHM Ltd in April 2008 to review the capacity of the College to deliver on the Train to Gain and demand led agenda. The review led the College to restructure much of its non teaching support service functions. Steve Potts and Paul Gillooly from SHM Ltd will present an overview of that journey and they will share the outputs from the project with conference delegates. The presentation will include consideration of how best retailing practice might be applied .

Group Work
2 groups will be invited to consider the project outputs. The groups will be asked to explore whether these outputs have a value and reference to other FE colleges. They will also be invited to identify ways in which wider dissemination and/or support could be used to assist other colleges.
Workshop 1
CCN – getting the most from the TQS.
CCN will launch a website designed to give practical guidance and support to colleges preparing TQS submission.
Workshop 2
Becoming a sales led organisation
SHM Ltd will share materials .e.g. workshop formats, checklists, organisation structure, etc. All of these will be on a website which will be launched at the conference.

David Cheetham left Gateshead College in July 2008. The College achieved the highest grade possible (Outstanding) for every single area of the college’s delivery and operation. David Cheetham put employers at the heart of his strategy for success. David will give an insight to the value of this approach.
